Spyware: Finding it and KEEPING IT OFF...

I'm well aware of the anti-spyware 'cocktail' of Ad-Aware, Spybot and HijackThis. Lethal combo for detecting and eradicating the spyware...

But what's the best (hopefully free) program out there that will KEEP IT OFF? Sure, the 'cocktail' does a good job of finding 'golden casino' (as an example) and getting rid of it. But 10 minutes later the damned thing is on my machine again.

its not free, but adaware pro has a component that runs in your tray actively monitoring. if its worth it to you, cough up the $$.

Here are some tips:

In XP go to IE's privacy settings and tell it to block 3rd party cookies.

Get PanicWare's Pop-up Stopper Companion.

Empty your browser's cache when you are done surfing.

Then run Ad-Aware and Spybot.

You will notice a big difference.

I checked out Ad-Aware Pro, not real cheap at $40. At some point I might break down and just do it anyway.

I'll add your suggestions to my spyware eradication to-do list Iron Woode, thanks. I've also added a system-wide search by 'created today' criteria, that helps a little in the battle too.

As far as not visitng the pr0n sites...Well, that's just not an option. 😀
