Spybot very very slow

Version 1.6. Win XP, dual-core proc and 2GB ram and very few programs installed. Have used spybot on all my computer for years and had no problems, now on my laptop its so slow its unuseable. Everything else works fine and the program will finish if I had a day to leave the computer on. I have removed and reinstalled the program, it will update fine, but just runs super slow while every other program is fast. Can't figure out why?
 
Still no luck finding a solution. Many hours of research looking through forums have yielded nothing, anyone even have a wild-ass guess I could try?
 
Maybe another active program you have is conflicting???

Do you use Teatimer, Immunize I think is good.
As for a manual scanner free MalwareBytes is the best it seems at the moment.
 
I have turned off my antivirus, zonealarm, ad-aware with no improvement. I do not use tea-timer as it seemed to be more work than help, plus I have other protections. I guess I could try it with tea-timer but I would think not using it would make the program faster however with computers you never know. It is a good idea to go through shutting down all my other programs one by one to see if there is a conflict thats not obvious, thanks.
 
I mainly was thinking another antispyware. I think it was Spyware Doctor that does not like some other programs. I only use the free programs.
 
Problem fixed. I thought I had exactly the same programs on all computers and found it difficult to believe that their could be a conflict, but after going through all them, I found I had a free window washer program on the problem computer. I had never even used that program before, I removed it and everything works great. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
 
Glad you found/fixed your problem. Thank you for letting me know I have learned a little about computers.
