Spybot does not immunize pc from all threats

Running Windows 2000 SP4

I scanned and removed threats with the following programs:

Ad-aware 2007
Spybot
AVAST

After that, Internet Explorer would still not open. So, I ran hijackthis and got rid of AOL's BHO. Then IE was able to launch. Cool.

I then did a Windows Update, and it came up with an error, but I don't remember what it was. It was something like msixxx.exe (xxx refers to characters that I don't remember). I looked it up and it has something to do with the installer of programs. However, the 1 critical update that was available, which is the only update that I chose, installed successfully.

I have not seen that error since.

I then uninstalled Spybot and reinstalled it (v. 1.5.2), and for some reason it only will immunize the pc from 17250 out of 74431 threats, leaving a whopping 57181 threats unprotected (see screenshot to see what the threats are).

Thoughts?

I also ran hijackthis again, and wanted to know if there is anything else that can be fixed.

Here is the log:

I used to have this problem, but on a MUCH smaller scale (Spybot refused to immunize 1 item) ... after a lot of poking around it turned out that there was some kind of conflict between SB & the Kaspersky AV engine running as part of my Zonealarm Internet security I uninstalled & re-installed both programs & that corrected my problem.

I'm too lazy to go through your entire HJ-log right now, but based on the Spybot screenshot I'll state what should be obvious that your problems are related mainly to Firefox & my bet is that you have somthing nasty hanging out on your machine.

Spybot can be helpful, but its detection rate is less then stellar & Adaware is close to worthless ... try downloading another free program called Superantispyware & do a full scan with it for starters.

Next stop should be here to have a look at AT-security expert Johns malware guide for more helpful information tracking down your problem.

A online HJT analyzer says you have problems, maybe even a Trojan.
I am not a trained adviser-amazingtechs.com may be the quickest place for a dedicated HJT forum.
