something about the lines and the large audi grill makes it look like a 40s streamlined locomotive. :D

The whole point of the audi company is "ZOMG ALL WHEEL DRIVE"

And for a moment, I thought the thread title was for the '97 Audi TT. I was gonna post "Uhhh a little late there"

How many RWD Audi's can you buy now? Don't forget this is the Golf V platform, so it won't be RWD only. Just FWD and the crappy Haldex system (I've owned a Haldex Golf so don't no one tell me they rock!).

Then why bother with the FWD version? Just seems quite strange to me. Then again, I guess people buy it...

When was the last time you've seen a RWD audi? (not including le mans, a production vehicle).

They havent made them since the 60's.. maybe not even then, i forget now. DKW was making FWD cars before the war, werent they?

I thought the point of the TT was that it's based on the Golf platform.

The weight-saving of RWD vs AWD might make more sense if this was a purpose-driven roadster, rather than a parts bin, corporate-badged, albeit pretty, car...

Exactly.

The weaker, FWD versions of the current generation outsells the more powerful, AWD versions by a huge margin.

Again, it's a very pretty car...

Mmmm....me likes it, but it kinda does away with the Bauhaus styling that was so anti-Bangle on the original TT. No more artsy fartsy jelly bean.
