Seems harsh... but then again he allegedly gave away highly classified information. Yikes. What a bastard. I dunno if the death penalty is appropriate though. Anyone have an opinion about this? BTW the guy's name is something Hanssen.

Put him in a movie, send him to hollywood to take some pictures, marry a blond, white tapioca pudding on a sandy beach.

If he'd only donated a few hundred thousand to the Clinton and got charged a few weeks ago, he'd be home free. Pardon!:|

His treason costs others their lives...Fry'em!:disgust:

The Rosenbergs were American citizens put to death after being convicted of espionage, they had young children at the time. I am not a huge fan of the death penalty, but if these citizens qualified for it then what would make an FBI agent exempt if found guilty?

if he were a russian spy on our grounds we'd kill him in no time flat without trial.

death penalty sounds right.

some of the information he released to the russians resulted in the arrest and executions of two KGB double-agents.

Those guys were doing exactly what he was doing, and his actions got them killed. Nice to see him get bit in the ass.

This guy really makes me angry. Think of all the millions the US spent on intelligence and research that this guy either compromised or gave away to another country. And he started doing this back in the 80's, when we were still fighting the cold war. His actions directly led to the deaths of russians spying for us.

Give him the needle. :|

you're right....the death penalty is not appropriate

we'd be letting him off way to easily w/ the modern ways of putting people to death

he deserves a greater punishment

Before the ASSumptions start, let's agree with fdiskboy -- due process then punishment.

That said, I've always admired the efficacy of the practice of drawing and quartering someone. Sounds like the perfect test case.
