This deserves it's own thread.

OMG Spurs choked this one. EVEN if they go to dallas and win the series, Even spurs fans have to admit this was a MAJOR choke job.

OMG, Last time i've seen such a big choke was Houston vs Buffalo (NFL Playoff game) One of the classic chokes of all time.

no - that would be buffalo vs giants (NFL Superbowl). Norwood misses field goal to give g-men the game. :D

yes - spurs choked a big one tonight!

edit: Not Christie - Norwood :D

have to disagree, the GAME that bills lost to Giants was a more important game, but losing a 30+ point lead middle of the 3rd quarter is without question the biggest choke of all.

I think you have that mixed up with the biggest COMEBACK of all time. :)

Spurs choked worse than they did in Game 5 of the Lakers series, which was one of the biggest chokes of all time, besides this one of course.

As much as I like the Mavs to win, I still think the Spurs will take this series and move on to the Finals...

Yes, but then again I'm also a Kings, Mavs, Nets, Spurs and Pistons fan as well. I like watching good teams. I've watched just as many Lakers games as I have Kings, Spurs and Mavs (Mavs a bit less so). But if I had to say which team is my favorite (most enjoyable to watch), it'd be the Lakers followed closely by the Kings, with the Mavs third and the Nets forth. Does that make me a Lakers "fan"? Perhaps, but I'm certainly not one of those blind bandwagon dorks, especially the ones that will root for all-of-the-sudden championship teams like the Ducks only because of the team's proximity to their homes.

EDIT: Of course people can still have fun and be fans even if they are bandwagon dorks. :)

the NBA has to protect its MVP, the spurs won't choke again, i'm sure they have learned from the last few seasons vs. the lakers :p

and yes i am a laker fun, a sad lowly laker fan. Oh well, atleast i still got Byron Scott and the Nets to cheer for.

Yet they still managed to make it through the Lakers series somehow. ;) Just like they'll probably still win this series as well. It was definitely an ugly way to lose, but so long as they win the series and continue to win series after series then those ugly losses are going to continue to just be embarrassing irritations in the grand scheme of things. If they have two more of these that cost them the series THEN it will be a major choke. In the meantime, the jury's still out. They may very well come out and destroy the Mavs in the next game much like the did in Game 6 of the Lakers series after another close call in Game 5.

Still, it is an ugly trend that only playing the next game and winning will fix. Even though they've managed to squander away quite a few major leads late in the game at least they've consistently been in a position to do so (glass if half full approach here.) I'm sure most other teams would love to be able to consistently get 15-20 point leads on teams the likes of the Lakers and Mavs. They've just got to do a MUCH better job of reading the situation to make sure they close it out and that's a lot of the coach's job. Sometimes it DOES make sense to go inside on the other team late in the 4th quarter and pound away in the paint. But other times, it makes just as much sense to take your time, rotate the ball and look for the open jumpshot if your post players are getting double and triple teamed.

I support all my Dallas teams. I also love good teams, so I enjoy watching Kings, Spurs, Nets and Pistons also. Not as much the Lakers because half the time they play like they don't care. And if they don't care, why should I?

OK -

The biggest choke ever was the Oilers vs. Bills... a 35-3 lead in the 3rd Quarter evaporates - in the NFL playoffs.

Last night's choke was not nearly as big as Portland's gag job 2 years ago in Game 7 against the Lakers. That was epic.

I actually posted that in another thread and i was promptly told that it wasn't a Choke but a Comeback.

so i responded Big Comeback = Big Choke for other team.

anyway, ya, that was a big choke.
