I called two months ago:
$30, 300 min, 8pm, unlimited NW, w/Roam
$40, 1000 min, 9pm, no NW, no roam

I'm in SF Bay area. Anyone in the area can post how to get a better deal?

I just got verizon 400 plan with LG VX 600. I love the phone, but paying $50 a month($5 mobile web, 5 phone proection plan) is bit too much considering I am going to college this fall.

I want verizon cause of their quality but price is killing me. Is Sprint coverage that bad(ex Upstate NY)? Would it be better to switch?

well....sprint does suck but hell its cheap here are my deals I got them to make.

1 year ago did the oh soso has this plan for cheaper...they gave me(wasnt under contract)
600anytime
3000n/w(8pm)
free ld
for 35.99 a month. The rep was pulling my leg...i knew what he was doing and wouldnt allow it...he first gave me a few smaller plans and i said no. then he gave me this one and it took me some talking so I could get the 8pm and free ld...but he gave in.

few months later my mot timeport dead... I was pissed i love mot phones and sprint stoped carrying and supporting them. It was eaither buy one on ebay or get a new brand. I took my chances with a samsung a500...this phone sucks. singal was always dropping, wasnt clear. I took it back a week later thinking something was wrong to get a new phone...turns out thats the way the phone is.

then few months later on the second a500 screen dies...i thought oh well time to get nextel...but id give sprint one more try. I got them to send me the sanyo 5300 which at the time was 399.99 for free!!!(8100 wasnt out yet). Deal was I paid for the phone, and they gave me a 400 credit to my account. next week the 8100 comes out for 199....so I exchanged the 5300 for the 8100 at bestbuys. I like to think of it making 200bucks. Not to menation I dont have to pay my pcs bill for another 6months.

this is the deal i recieved, 1000 any time minutes 39.95 a month, and all the regular jazz, this only works for my state though, not a problem though, as far as i know it's probably not even a real deal but i was happy with it, i tryed to get an instore credit but they refused, they said i would have to ask for it at a sprint local dealer, I went to one in Wisconsin and they said customer care is wrong but she still gave me 75 dollars off of a new phone so it worked out good.

It seems Sprint is actually offering *good* retention plans the longer you've been in service with them. The distinguishing point from plan to plan is not known as of now.

The reason being is my brother got a new phone also and tried to do the retention deal with cancellations. When he couldn't get anywhere, I even tried to do it for him, saying exactly what I said when I called in for my own phone. I tried three times with 3 different reps and the 3rd rep finally said something about my brother only being a customer for 1.5 years. I am a cusotmer for 3+ years, which leads me to believe I got the deal because of my longterm commitment.

I just called Sprint PCS customer service, I asked the rep when my contract is over she said Jan 31, 2004. I asked her how long I have been a customer she said since Jan 31 2001. I asked if there are any rebates for existing customers for new phones, she said hold on let me see if you are eligible. I waited about a minute she said she have waive some 35$ fee and $20 mail in rebate towards a new phone. I said i was interested in getting one of the new phones with the cameras and they go for $200+. I said im just going to wait until my contract is over to cancel my service and go with another carrier. The customer service rep didnt even budge.

You might want to wait till your contact is up and talk to their retention office.
Good luck.
