Sprint vs AT&T

Been with Sprint for about six years now and I'm thinking it's time for a change. My biggest gripes with Sprint is I get no service in the building where I work and the phones are sub par with that of AT&T. Other than that, the service is great everywhere else.

What are your experiences with AT&T? Yay or nay? I do like the idea of rollover minutes. I think the phone of choice for me will probably a Blackberry type but the data plan on top of the voice plan is a killer If I do get a Blackberry with the data plan chances are I can get my work to pay for it..but we'll see.

I have been with Sprint about the same, maybe a year longer. AT&T/Cingular is a better option if you travel to Europe - GSM vs. CDMA. The decision is really location dependent. You go with what works best. Check with other people in your building and see who has a "5 bar" service. Again, location and use rule. What about Verizon and others?

For the most part I agree with you. The only reason I changed to sprint was the sero plan. To get a comprable plan from AT&T would have been north of $90 a month. For a savings of $50 a month I can deal with the short comings.

They both have 3g right? The only advantage I would see for ATT aside from a possible service increase is the ability to buy any phone you want to use on their network. As corkyg said GSM work in Europe, but not only in Europe the whole rest of the world uses GSM. well and CDMA, but the GSM technology allows you use to just swap out sim cards.

I've actually checked out Verizon but wasn't too fond of their service. My ex has them and she would get dropped calls all the time.

You bring up a good point about GSM. I do have the opportunity to travel to London so that would come in handy.

You bring up a good point about GSM. I do have the opportunity to travel to London so that would come in handy.

Of course you have to remember that the only way it will benefit you is if your phone was unlocked and you chose a prepay plan to get a number while you were in London.

The only crummy thing about ATT is that they do not unlock your phone for you like Tmobile does. Otherwise there are CDMA networks in the UK and Europe as well so basically any phone will work in roaming.

I just made the switch to sprint after 10 years with Bellsouth Mobility/Cingular/AT&T. Their Customer Service was always top notch and blows sprint out of the water. I only switched to sprint for the SERO plan with my Treo. As was said above the same features of the SERO plan would have cost me 90.00 plus per month. I have noticed that Sprints call quality and reception seems to be better than ATT though. at least in my location. I would try ATT to see how they work though. If they don't have a 30 day tryout period, you can pick up a prepaid at walmart for about 30.00 and it uses the same network. I do recall that with ATT you had 3 days to return and cancel services to get everything back, after 3 days you forfeit your activation (36.00) fee and I think 15 days to return everything to get out of a contract.
