Looks nice.. will come with Android 2.1 and Sense or stock 2.1?

If it's 1.6 it's a huge fail.

Not that I have WiMax around here so it won't matter, but those 4G radios eat battery life like crazy so far. I'd be curious to see if they've found a way to improve that substantially.

Seriously, im almost tempted by this....4g seems pretty (relatively) mature here in the chicago area, I almost want to see how it does. I work for a smartphone support company, maybe i can push to get one of these in house and test it.

The phone looks ugly. Whoever designed it need to be shot! Why can't they just make it like the Nexus One?

I disagree, I feel the nexus one looks pretty plain to me, where this looks quite a bit more sleek.

To be fair, I have not seen the N1 in person, only seen hires photos.

Read on engadget a few days ago that although it's 4.3" like the HD2 it's NOT AMOLED. Dunno their source though.

The OLED screen on the Nexus One is almost unusable outside, I use my cell outside quite a bit, its hard to even find the brightness control in indirect sunlight, then crank it up to full brightness so its usable...

I prefer the HD2 to this slightly, but I would like to try android. I really wish they'd come to verizon (I'll likely switch to them from ATT in july), but I haven't heard any rumors of it so not expecting much :(

But I guess it would be pretty easy to get an unlocked one eh? Just expensive...

Try the "Brightness Control" app. It doesn't make the screen brighter, obviously, but it does make adjusting the brightness easier.

Phone looks nice but without any 4G within a 350 mi radius of where I am... looks like a definite pass for me. Then again, I'm not to fond of Sprint anyway. The could use a powerhouse phone though since they're still leaking customers left and right.

At least it's in your state...

ROFL yeh does me alot of good!
I don't have Sprint, but thought the Cities that rolled out first were weird. I'm in the market for a new phone, but I'm leaning more towards VZW over Sprint.

Yeah. They're cheaper than Verizon/AT&T, have a solid network, and did a 180 on the customer service from crap to great.. So, they just need a phone to help lure people back.

It looks nice, but I do wonder if the screen will make the phone too big.

I for one have no problem with the idea that the screen on a phone might actually be large enough to be readable without glasses. Now if I were still in my 20's with 20:10 eyesight the smaller phone might be desireable but I'm not in my 20's anymore so a larger, higher resolution screen is preferred. The screen on my iPhone 3G is 3x2 or 3.61 diagonal so an increase from 3.61 to 4.3, though not huge, might make all the difference to someone like me.

Also, if the display is a tad wider, that is greater than 2 inches, it should make it easier to thumb type in portrait instead of switching to landscape.

If I were designing a phone I'd start with the iPhone and make it about 0.2 inches wider, 0.3 inches longer, and 0.1 inches thicker. Making it longer and wider would permit a larger display and with a smaller bezel area the display could be a good bit larger. Making the phone a tad thicker would allow for a much larger battery for much greater useful operating time. Lastly, in addition to a physically larger display I'd want the resolution to be MUCH higher. Figure a 4.5 inch display with a resolution of 1600x960...

Won't be able to use an unlocked phone on Verizon. At least not this phone because Sprint's 4g is quite different from where Verizon and ATT and going in the near future.
