Sprint phones that have free text messaging?

I currently love my Sanyo 8100 with its great sound quality and everything..but I hate the ability of not being able to send text messages from it without subscribing or paying fees for PCS vision.

Is there an equivalent phone out there to the Sanyo that supports text messaging?

Also, how hard is it to switch over from one phone to another in the middle of a plan?
