My lg g3 is on it's way out, and it's time to get a new phone. I'm happy with the g3's performance, so we'll consider that the performance benchmark. I'd like the performance to be close to that. Removable storage and removable battery are two requirements. Fairly hard requirements, though I could possibly bend on the battery. It would take a lot of plusses to get me to consider a fixed battery phone though.

The two phones I'm considering are the Samsung J7 Perx, and the LG Stylo 3. I really enjoyed the S5 I had, and I think Samsung has a bit better build quality. I like lg, but with the emmc errors I'm getting(I'll try baking it in the oven once I get another phone), and the chronic boot loop issues they have with other models, as well as overall creakiness in the build, I'm a bit leery of them. When they work, I enjoy the phones though. I played with an older stylo my daughter used to have, and thought it was nifty device.

Money is no object, but I don't care about high performance or gimmicky features either. G3 class performance, a decent, but not exceptional camera, loud speaker, and the previously mentioned removable parts are what I'm interested in. This is the list Sprint has...

Any suggestions between my two choices, or something else they sell?

edit:
I also don't care about android updates. I'm cool with lollipop. All the programs I regularly use work on that. I guess newest is best, but it isn't a driving concern.

The problem with looking for G3-class performance is that it's probably not going to be enough going forward. I would definitely consider bending on the battery issue, although that means looking for a phone with a pretty hefty battery and fast charging.

I'd actually hold a bit until the BlackBerry Key2 unveiling on June 7th before making a decision. The KeyOne is an absolute battery champ, and the sequel could be just as good with newer hardware. There's also the Moto E5 Plus with its gigantic 5,000mAh battery, although it won't be as fast.

I got the J7 Perx. I'm using it now. It's alright. Nothing exciting, but I don't get excited over phones anyway. The display's noticeably worse than my last two phones, but acceptable, and the performance seems snappy. Haven't tried the camera. It's only 8mp, but as long as it gets the right pixels, that should be plenty.

I need to get a case still. Looks like that'll be a second or third tier case. Otterbox doesn't have anything good for it. That's a big downside to lower end phones; not as many accessories.

As far as the g5 goes... That's solidly in the bootloop era, and I just don't have confidence in lg's build quality. I liked the g3, but it never felt as solid as my s5, or even this j7 as far as that goes. I'm pretty sure it's completely dead at this point. It made its last boot this morning, and that took some effort. I went to check the time today, and it was stuck on the lg logo. I forgot to get my keepass database off it too. I have a couple entries I hadn't backed up yet. Nothing terrible. Just inconvenient. I'll fool with it later, and see if I can get it working; maybe take it apart, and see if baking it in the oven gets it going. It won't get anymore broken :^D
