I just got back from Best buy and they have the normally $179.99 Sanyo 4900 Sprint Vision phone (3G) for $134 (25% off). This is a good price as it has not been on sale before....I price matched my two 4900's I bought last week from them...the Vision phones have also been excluded from every rebate sprint has offered as of yet...

*Brag on*
When I went into the store the Phone guy told me it was 25% off of one phone or 50% off of 2 phones(whole package)...Went to cust service and haggled...turns out they honored there phone guys mistake and gave me 50% off of the total for the 2 phones!(now $90/phone) Yes! Best Buy is Great!

damn cell phones... you should have to pass "how to use" test to get one.

Do you know if they have a similar 25% off discount for the $299 A500 phone? I have used ATT Wireless for the past few years but I want to switch to Sprint in order to use their new 3G Wireless network (PCS Vision).

bestbuy does have some very good prices on their sprint phones. my brother was shopping for the Samsung A460 (their flip phone with 3G, not the color A500) and it sells for $149 everywhere and $120 on ebay--it is at bestbuy for $99. very good flip phone. they also have the ultra hard-to-find A500--pick one up and flip it on ebay and make a few bucks if you want.

If it is voice only, how can it be 3G? I thought the definition of 3G includes the capability of hi-speed data transfer. What's the point of talking faster than real time anyway?

I hope you were kidding... but just in case you weren't - 3G voice means that the phone will use the 3G infrastructure for sending and receiving calls. 3G data capability is what is necessary for using the high speed data transfer made possible by the 3G infrastructure. 3G voice doesn't allow you to talk faster than real time (how would this work?). 3G voice allows your phone to use the network more efficiently hopefully resulting in less dropped calls, etc. Basically, 3G voice won't do anything visibly spectacular for the individual end user but on the whole will make for a better calling experience for everybody by increasing the effective bandwidth of the network.

well... i just bought a a460 last night at BB.

it was $99.99 - $50.00 rebate(sprint)

of course, i paid $40 extra for their service plan. :)

so far, i don't notice any difference between g3 and the older generation.
my wife has a400. and from the looks of it, she gets more bars than i do on mine.
i'm not sure if there's a different scale for these two phones. but i'm not that impressed ... at least, not yet.
and that service plan will come in handy... when/if i'm not happy with the phone.

i just wish the kyocera's 7135 will come out soon.

Where is this BestBuy? Any chance you can scan me the receipt? I'm looking for this phone, but I think it's $179.99 here.

Thanks.
