sprint pcs: deposit??

I went to a sprint PCS retail store and got PCS from them (the 50% off phones thing is decent)...they said they needed a $125.00 security deposit that I'll get back in a year @6%.
Is this standard? I know my credit history is non-existent since I'm a student, so this deposit seems logical, but I just want to make sure.

It's only required if you have poor/non-existent credit. I think all cell phone providers will require a deposit if your credit is poor.

Thx. The sales rep said I would get my deposit back in 1 yr @6% interest. Where the crap does it say that in writing?? I'm not going to just take his word for it. Is 1 yr for a 2yr agreement standard?
