Sprint offering official support for Google Voice (?)

Sprint on Monday announced that Google Voice services are coming to Sprint phones.

With this service, Sprint customers can either use Google Voice numbers in place of their Sprint-assigned numbers or they can use their Sprint-assigned numbers on Google Voice.

Interesting... possibly the next step for Google to become a carrier?

Kinda makes sense since the Nexus 4G is coming out soon. Sprint is smart to "partner" with Google in light of what the competition is up to.

Bingo. Isn't it hard/impossible to port OUT of GV? At least this is my understanding.

I don't think Google is interested in building physical network infrastructure so long as they can provide their services on others networks.

Yeah, buying something physical doesn't seem to jive with Google's master plans. That said, wireless is a tough arena to compete in. They're probably smart to sit back and let someone else worry about that.
