I got the EVO about a week ago and it is AWESOME. It blows the Palm Pre out of the water. It is ... just awesome. Fast, feels solid, looks amazing, screen is amazing, onboard keyboard > pre physical keyboard, auto-correct is sick, so much more control of everything (notifications, alarm days of weeks, apps, etc)

but

when I put on Pandora or MP3s and then put the volume on max... it's not really that loud. At the gym, I like my music loud to get rid of the treadmill sound/gym junkie grunting, but it can't.

I tried two pairs of headphones and both are the same. The Pre was a lot louder?

So, I either need

a) headphone suggestions (LOUD)

or

b) how to get my Evo (android) louder? Any apps or anything?

the speaker without headphones is louder than the Pre, which is weird...

How about in-ear headphones as a possibility? They block everything out and they are closer to your eardrum and that effectively makes them seem louder.
Something like this:

I use in-ear earbuds when I'm mowing the lawn or exercising and I can set the volume down near the bottom and still hear everything perfectly. The negative of this, though, is that you can hear your own breathing and you can't hear anyone else talking to you at all.

Alternatively there is this volume hack - which seems to work for Evo, but then some other say it doesn't. You need to have rooted your phone though.
