Sprint/Embarq DSL

Anyone else have Embarq (used to be Sprint) DSL?

Ever since they became Embarq, my results from speed tests have been horrible. I have a 3mb connection. Last night i used their test and got like 450 down and 500 up. I emailed them and asked whats going on. they told me that there are no problems in my area, try the test without a router and my firewall disabled. it worked fine with all thatr stuff on and enabled before...

guess i'll try the test witohut my router and my firewall disabled and se what happens. i don't know why it would suddenly change though.

I had a brief (less than 1 week) experience with Sprint DSL a couple years ago... ping to my gateway was a constant 109ms no matter what (but speeds were what they should be). Obviously unacceptable considering I was comparing it side by side with Roadrunner at the time. That gateway spike ruined any and all chances of getting a decent ping to my favorite game servers. They couldn't fix it using interleave or fastpath etc. etc. And ofcourse they "don't support ping times." 😉

From what I've been told Embarq is only providing DSL because their competitors are providing DSL so they have no real reason to expand, upgrade, improve, etc.

It was crap long before Embarq took over. Switch to cable.

can't its either sprint dsl or nothing. i will not go back to dial up

I have Sprint DSL. It's been down since yesterday morning and might be down for another 24-48 hours. I'm on dial-up and it hurts! I will say that their service has been very reliable for years. This is the first major outage I have had. I don't know what speeds I was getting and I can't check because, you see, it's down (sob).
