Maybe!
I have Sprint BBD and if you have their 2-way capability in your area; then you won't need a modem for uploads.
I wish you luck with Sprint/Earthlink BBD! I have been with them for over a year now in the Phoenix area and they SUCK! My sector, #102; is so saturated with 18" diamond shape dishes that my thruput sucks! Sprint sends a van out to my house every month to tell me that my connection is fine. We play this little game all the time. I currently have 40KB/sec download and 2.3KB/sec upload. My upload speed is SLOWER than a phone connection! AGHH!!!!!

If you have ANY other means of high speed (cable, DSL) DO IT! Their customer service is lame!
If they are *new* to your area; then get it and enjoy the speed for about 4 months. After that time your connection will suck. I am currently running an 18% packet loss just from their transmitter alone! I can't play Q3 of Half-Life online at all; nor upload to Usenet. It's just not possible.

I wish you luck!
