Sprint and Nextel making babies!

Is it just me, or in the future are there only going to be like 5 or 6 comanies?

Will we see companies like "AOL-Time Warner-JP Morgan - Chase - Bankone - Pepsico - Sprint Nextel"

i dont think its confirmed yet, is it? THier were rumors yesterday of Verizon also making a bid at either sprint or nextel so that they could reclaim the #1 spot.

edit.. i guess they've announced the deal, but it still has to be approved by the stock holders and uncle sam.... we'll see what happens.

It's confirmed, I heard it on the radio this morning.

so how distant of a 4th is T-mobile now?

I think this is a good thing, 3 major players! Time for Verizon to start offering some better plans!

You have to remember that T-Mobile is an even bigger player in Europe and is controlled by the German giant Deutsche-Telekom AG. I have little doubt that DT has big enough pcokets to buy both AT&T and Cingular, thus absorbing their respective GSM networks.

Ditto....I dunno how this is going to affect me in the long run....

My best guess is that they'll eventually dump iDen since its a dead-end technology. Sprint's PTT has proven to be just slightly slower then direct connect. Besides, call quality on Nextel is total crap.

<- 4+ year Sprint customer

GAHHH!! That sucks. I just purchased a new i730. Nextel better offer some type of buy back program. Any word on when a change like that would take place?
