Spring water or Brita filters?

Tired of having to go to BJ to buy gallons of water. It seems between the ice tea and the amount of water my gf drinks, I better look for an alternative. What if I were to purchase a brita filter? Tap water taste funny and there's no way I would drink it unless I had to. What will the Brita filter do? Does it eliminate the taste and break down the particles like it says it does?

1) BRittas do improve taste alot.
2) tap water is actually healthier for you (if city water that is).
3) When you are paying more for water than gas, there is a problem (bottled water vs. gasoline)

All I know is that in collge, the britta filters were teh bomb. A total waste of money looking back at it, but it's definitely the way to go if you want good tasting water.

5000 gallons for as low as $65.

That's 1.3 cents a gallon.

Some good info in that thread, that's where I got the link. Even if there is no other benefit besides taste, 1.3 cents a gallon is worth it just for that.

Under counter available too.

Have you tried this before Viper?

isn't most bottled water tap water that is just filtered?

Britta filters are nice though, but i hate waiting for the water to filter, takes too long.

I'd also like to know.

I have a water cooler, and I buy Mountain Valley Spring Water in 5 gallon carboys. It costs me about $13/mo or so, and it's fantastic.

my mom has that....good stuff.....

I have one of those refrigerator Britas with the spigot... holds like a gallon I think... water tastes good (well, no taste, which is good) and I haven't had to replace the filter yet this year. Definately a good investment.

Filters do work, and work good. Makes coffee taste much better. We had a Brita pitcher, but it was a PITA, especially when people didn't refill it. So I bought an under sink filter. It filters 1500 gallons, and is great. I am not sure which one I got, but it was like this one:

Under Sink Water Filter

I love it.

Any issues with using a brita without changing the filter open? We've been on the same filter forever now ... are essentially drinking tap water now ?

We use a Brita pitcher, and the water tastes great -- you wouldn't recognize it as nasty Houston tap water. My mom has been looking into one of the filtering systems that you install on the incoming line to filter the water coming into the house. They sound like an ideal solution.

But for now, the Brita pitcher is great.

The secret is out... now you have a rough idea what the water bottlers are paying on a per gallon basis before they charge you a dollar or more per gallon.

Viper has the right idea... Personally, I have a filter installed for my refrigerator - it makes ice and dispenses water from the filtered water.

I live in Phoenix AZ right now, and while my Brita water filter does remove a lot of the crap from the water, it still tastes bad.

Water straight from the tap tastes like lead, rust, and dirt. When I run it through my Brita filter pitcher, it tastes a LOT better, but it leaves an after taste of dirt. As a result, I buy bottled water from Sams Club to drink and use the Brita filtered water for cooking.

Also, even though Brita says to replace the filter approx. every two months, I find myself doing it every month because the tap water destroyed the filter.

don't buy bottled. they are probably selling u tap water😛 atleaset with a filter its cheaper and does something
