Spring vacation to Canada... good idea or bad? (and Canadians, any suggestions for must-see sites?)

I'm thinking about heading up to the Great White North for my spring vacation (first 10 days of April or so). I've had a layover in Gander Airport once many moons ago, but otherwise never been. I was thinking Canada might be a better destination than the UK or Europe this year because of the weakness of the US $ against the Pound Sterling and Euro.

Anyway, is Canada a good idea for a vacation, and any itenerary suggestions out there, from either Canadians or prior visitors?

I quite liked Winnipeg but that's because the concrete vastness that is Toronto put me off looking around :)

lucky bastad.

haha tho, the Punjabis in Vancouver are kinda ghetto...hehe.

its weird, in Canada in general, they have lower income jobs. The economic disparity between Indian Canadians from what I've seen and Indian Americans is astronomical.

I think it's all relative. Most successful Indians in the US are Quite well educted and in the white collar sector. Most successful Indians in Vancouver & BC are more Blue Collar. I know may Indian Families that own successful Lumber mills & fabrication (constuction materials companies).

Where in Canada, we are a bit large to cover in 10 days. Maybe 10 days to get a taste of a region.

Want to ski? Mountain bike? Sail? All this and more can be done in Vancouver, though you might have to go to Whistler for the skiing. If you want to see an NHL game, go to Edmonton or Calgary where tickets are plentiful. :p :D

First 10 days in April? Oofta. Unless you're on the coast it can still be winter in the nicest places... like Alberta Mountain parks or the BC Interior.

I'd wait until June. My favorite time is the first 2 weeks of September. All the little yard apes are back in school, the crowds are mostly gone and the weather is still gorgeous.

I swear it's been raining a lot less the last couple years. I haven't kept track, but that's a general observation.
