Spring Breakers: the movie

Spooner

Am I missing an inside joke here? Why on earth would James Franco, Selena Gomez, and Hudgens do this movie? It's basically a soft core porn with NO point whatsoever, yet had the tone of something trying to take itself seriously.

Not complaining about the constant bikinis.... Just wondering if this was meant as a joke of some sort :ninja:

Have yet to see it.. but I understand it to be an incredibly satirical look at the modern generation of douchebags we have breed.
It is on my list of movies to watch.

It's apparently a joke even to actual rowdy spring breakers. Even they can't believe it and have to turn it off.

Because they jumped at the chance to work with Harmony Korine.

The movie is an awesome psychedelic jab at the mindless Jersey Shore idiotic culture that the youth of today have bestowed upon the world. The wub-dub-dub music, nonexistent morals, ignorant ghetto role models, and the infamous modern day starlets... he touches on all of it.

Not nearly as powerful as Kids was 20 or so years ago. I thought the cinematography was great. James Franco's acting was amazing as well.

It's a horrifically bad movie. The director has great visual style, but that's offset by his complete failure to do proper editing. I get the point he was trying to make - I just think he could have done it with a third less of the time taken, and about 90% less repetition.

I thought it was marketed horribly. They made it out to be a comedy, which it isn't.

That said, I sort of enjoyed it. It isn't at all what I expected, but it was interesting anyway. And Franco was really good.

Truth be found here.
Was a great movie.

me and some buddies watched it over some skank beers one afternoon, lots o tits!

horrible movie.

and gomez effect is strong.

Taken at face value it was an incoherent piece of shit. Look at little deeper and there's a lot more at play. A satire on modern values (or lack thereof), an allegorical story of the devil planning his revenge on god, take your pick.

"Spring Breakers" teaches that you may think you're the baddest psychopath around and be wrong.

Either the first or second best movie I've seen all year. Saw it twice in the theatre and bought the Blu-ray.
