I'm going to go on my first spring break trip ever (I usually just go home and work) to England to visit my sister who is staying there for the year. I have decided this rather late since I will be leaving on March 13th in the very early morning (6 am-ish) or later on March 12th and I want to get back to Chicago on the 19th.

I've checked a few sites to see if any one was better than the other, but they all fall within about $10 or so of each other site. I have checked :

Expedia
Priceline
Cheap Tickets

I will be departing from Chicago (most likely O'Hare, but I can also do Midway) and I want to arrive at Heathrow in London, England. The cheapest tickets I have found were for about $450 - $475.

Does anybody have any advice to offer as far as purchasing? Have you had better luck with one company over another? This is going to be my first time out of the country and my first time seeing the ocean, even though it's from a plane :p

Thanks for any advice.

Sign up for various airlines email offers. I've seen Delta roundtrip airfare from Cincinnati to Frankfurt as low as $280 in the winter months.

I believe Delta's partner out of O'Hare is Sabena. At least it used to be.

before buying tickets, check the actual plane websites...over thanksgiving last year I wanted to fly home, and yahoo gave me like 20 offers for flights that have like 2 layovers and like 400+ dollars, went to a specific company website and got tix for 200 non-stop two days before leaving

Hrm, have you tried looking into flying into London Gatwick airport? Also, www.1800flyeurope.com has some decent fares for your itinerary, if you're okay with connections and such.

Hmm I checked 1800flyeurope and it was cheaper but doesn't offer any flights to Heathrow. Gatwick is cheap but my sis and I would have to get to the South part of London but she lives about 2 hours North of London :( That site does give cheaper tickets if anybody else is looking.

I checked Sabena conjur, but couldn't find a site in the US. I just went to Delta and saw what they had to offer and if was pretty much in the same ballpark.

Thanks for the advice so far, it's been very helpful!
