Nothing is exactly like Excel except Excel. Any features that are particularly important for you?

what he said. except even different versions of excel aren't exactly the same either. if you really need excel, you can always use crossover office to run excel on linux. if you can get by with just a spreadsheet program with excel compatibility, you can try openoffice

the only option is to try it out. openoffice also runs under windows, so go download it and try to open your excel spreadsheets. if it works, it'll work for the linux version as well. if it doesn't work and you still want to use linux, go get crossover office, which lets you run some windows applications, including ms office, on linux.

i switched around a year ago. although I have had no problems at all using openoffice I don't miss MS Office's interface. Office 2k7 is almost good enough to bring me back to MS. If they'd cut the price in 1/2 i'd probably go for it..

What everyone else said, Crossover (wine) is awesome and should be able to get office working just fine for you. But, of course, try open office first and see if it works. I haven't had OO fail me yet so you might have some good success with it.
