Spraypaint or paint

I just bought a nice Chenbro 4U case. The front of it is black, but of course the rest of it is bare metal and I'd like it to be all black.

I've spray-painted cases before with mixed results, so this time I'd like it to look very nice, so what would be best - spray paint or household paint (like you'd put on walls)?

Maybe my spray paint technique just needs work? LOL!

Any other suggestions for a nice alternative?

Thanks!

If you have an place near by you could have it powder coated. I think that would be the "best" option.

Sand the metal down to give the primer something to stick to,lay down a primer to get the paint to stick well, then move to your spray paint of choice. I wouldn't personally use household paint. Grab a can or two of Krylon or something of that nature. You can try wet sanding if you don't like the finish, then lay down a clear coat when you're happy. Or just stick with the rattle can look.

<---- IT for a sign company that paints metal. Someone might have a better answer, but this is pretty much what we do when we paint metal, but we use a paint booth to paint our stuff.
