Spraying / painting beige faceplate of cd-rom / dvd-rom to black, anyone ?

need advice..

do I just buy some black spray and spray on the sucker ?

want to take out the stock cd-rom on dell 4500
and put on beige dvd-rom and cd-burner and spray the sucker..

Pls advice

I would take it apart and then spray only the plastic parts. Use a few thin coats rather than a thick coat. It will look better and last longer.

Do a search in Cases & cooling, there's some good tips in there with links to a good paint to get.

Rust-oleum paint is the best IMO...I painted my case with it over a year ago and none of the paint has come off. Don't forget to put a few coats of lacquer on as well! You can get this stuff at Home Depot, it's cheap.

If this is for your new rig that's why I paid Dell $109 for a 16x DVD and 24x CD-RW yes I could have probably saved 50% by buying both from Hot Deals but it'd look ugly ass.

hehe just spray a dvd-rom and cendyne 32x yesterday and put in my dell 4500

every seems ok except the volume control truning knob, still white in color..

lol :Q

Get some plastic / Vinyl paint from AutoZone or Kmart. Will stick better and not peal like regular paint.

You can probably buy black front bezel covers for it... I know coolerguys.com sells aluminum Lian-Li ones to match the cases..

You should look for Plasti-Kote Vinyl spray.

That stuff works very good. I've used it on multiple cases.
