Spotted in a customer's computer: GeForce 7300GS in SLI?!?

The customer was convinced by Mesh Computers that this was the "best available" at the time... errr, right.

I wouldn't have thought such a low-range graphics card would have been SLI'able.

I wonder how many 7300GS's in combo configuration would be required to compete with a modern graphics card :)

(it's a bit like the 'beowulf cluster' cliché on Slashdot, isn't it...)

I didn't think you could SLI such a low end card. Have any pics??

Look guys, he said he saw it in their PC.

Maybe it was available on an earlier revision, like how the early Radeon 6950s had two Crossfire connectors instead of just one.

those are just general Nvidia technologies and obviously they don't all apply tho this card. you can look right at the card and see that there is no SLI finger.

That doesn't mean that you can't SLI them. There have been instances in the past of lower-end cards, from both ATI and NV, that can be CF/SLI respectively without "fingers". The drivers just use the PCI-E bus to do so.

Remember the test of CF/SLI (I forgot which) between an AGP card and a PCI-E card? I remember seeing that in a review, of one of those funky ASRock boards, with both a PCI-E and an AGP slot. I don't think that they use "fingers" in that review either. (Realistically, has anyone ever seen "fingers" on an AGP card? I don't think so!)

considering that the customer bought into such a configuration, I wouldn't be surprised if the card just sat there in the pci slot and he was none the wiser.

Hahaha, that's funny! I saw a computer with SLI 9500GTs recently. I can't imagine that was ever a good deal $ for $.

The customer and I got talking about it, and so I ended up checking the state of SLI. It was enabled (NVIDIA Control Panel).

PCIE btw. I confirmed they were GS's by a little sticker on the backs of the cards as well as through Display Properties (XP). No pics, sorry.

What was also a bit weird was that the DVI interface on the card had been disabled (driver? SLI?), that was acknowledged by the NV Control Panel.
