spotted a bad ass Mercedes prototype today...

The area I live in is frequently visited by groups of test vehicles driven by the various manufacturers.... Today we had a small group of Mercedes prototype and test vehicles come by... One looked like a cross between a SL600 and a viper....complete with gull wing doors.... I went back and got my digital camera, but when I stopped in the turnout where they were parked, one of the guys came over and told me not to take any pictures before I could get a single shot.... damn!

Also a couple of weeks ago, they had the road closed off most of the day while they filmed a segment that was going to be used in an upcoming BMW commercial featuring the BMW suv (MX5???)... They were filming both an overhead shot with a helicopter and also had a film vehicle with a camera in the back filming along side as it drove down the road.....

I live in California, but in the mountains north of Mammoth Lakes... its a pretty high pass (9900 Feet) that goes into Yosemite from the East.... We see quite a few groups of prototypes and test vehicles througout the summer....

As a side note, a couple of years ago a group of jaguar test vehicles stopped in our cafe.... I was looking inside one them, checking out the laptop like device that attaches to various sensors throughout the car, when I noticed a brass placard on the dash that stated 'Electrical will be the death of this company'.... LMAO at that one....

Thats it! There were several differences though, the vent/grill on the side was two large vertical slats rather than what they show in the picture... plus the hood and other parts of the car were flat black, making it harder to distinguish the lines of the car....

It was more a matter of courtesy... I was asked in a very polite and respectful way not to take pictures of the car, and following that, I showed him the same respect by not taking any... If he had been an ass about it, I probably would have taken the pictures....

I would have told the guy "TOOOOO BAD!!! YOU ARE NOT THE BOSS OF ME!!!11111!" You should then have taken a picture of the guy too, made a little website with the pics, then sent the link to his car company saying "this guy showed me you new cool cars!"

should have taken a pic anyway, they were on a public road and you didn't sign an NDA. if he tried to grab your camera or something you sue him and MB for assault and walk away with so much cash you ain't just taking pics of that car...
