Spotify Wrapped 2022

Modeps

Apparently 2022 was all about The New Pornographers for me. I was in the top 0.05% for them. I didn't think I listened to The Killers or Death Cab that much, but maybe they were snuck into my Daily Mixes. I would have presumed The Smiths and/or Morrissey would have been in the top 5.
  1. The New Pornographers
  2. Nine Inch Nails
  3. The Killers
  4. Cage the Elephant
  5. Death Cab for Cutie

1. Baroness
2. Foo Fighters
3. Ghost
4. The Naked and Famous
5. Lamb of God

Surprised at #2 tbh. They claim they can’t pin me down, must be too much funk, classical, metal and electronic side by side

1. Everclear
2. Gin Blossoms
3 Spoonfed Tribe
4. Poe
5. Collective Soul

top songs
1. Little Miss Can't be wrong
2. Possum Kingdom
3. Open Up Your Eyes
4. Malibu
5. Angry Johnny

said I have a tendency to seek out new music, or at least music I haven't heard before, which is true

According to spotify I explored 14 different genres this year.

1. Coheed and Cambria
2. Bayside
3. Alkaline Trio
4. Thrice
5. Sum 41

Pretty sure I listened to other bands a lot more than Sum 41, weird there were no metal bands on there as I listen to that quite a bit as well.

Apparently I am a thorough listener according to them, not surprising as I usually like to listen to albums as opposed to playlists.

242 minutes listened
top song, with 1 listen: The Alphabet City Elite by Bourgeoisie
top artist, with 16 minutes: Pattern Shift

I don't do spotify, but my favorite new band of the year is probably Υvridio: https://yvridio.bandcamp.com/album/labradoodle
I probably listened to They Might Be Giants more than any other band, like normal, and Ensiferum and Amon Amarth are probably high on the list too.
Whoa, haven't played to Poe in ages and now I'll need to add her to my list for tomorrow. Did she ever resolve those contract issues she had?
At this point I'm not sure if anything could live up to Haunted. I kinda stopped checking in on what was going on like 15 years ago, I was on the mailing list she had going for a while, I don't remember unsubscribing but I think the emails stopped at some point.

Only streaming I do is somafm, and I think that's what I've listened to most this year. Kind of generic ambient/space music. The other stuff on my machine has been post rock and jazz. Nothing new that I can recall.

I'm off and on with TMBG. Usually every couple years I'll get on a big kick and need to listen to Flood like 30 times in a row.
Since I've been following them ever since then, and they keep putting out albums, I tend to mix it up depending on what's going on, new albums mostly get listened to in the car until I've sorted out which are my favorite tracks. There's only been a few I wasn't really into, and two of them were the kid's albums.
