My right leg broke in a fashion similar to Theisman's (but towards the front)when I fell under with legs crossed during a hockey tussle in a back yard close to home when I was in my teens. The fracture was compound (bone pierced the skin, lovely sight with yellowish fattie tissue, yuck) and the angle was acute enough that it wouldn't set properly. They had to rebreak it later and place screws that are still in my leg. I was in a full leg cast from late December until May. Became very agile and speedy on my wooden crutches. When they removed the third and final cast, my leg was about the size of my wrist and the skin was all sclerotized and scaly (I could pluck them to gross out people). This fracture affected the leg growth somehow and my leg remains 1" shorter to this day - I need orthopedic shoes - and sports the scar still.
