No, he doesn't. But he's normally right. In this case there's not nearly enough traffic in OT to justify splitting off a sports forum, let alone multiple forums.

Better re-check your Admin handbook.
From the handbook:

Oldsmoboat - See: Oldsmoboat's Law
Oldsmoboat's Law - When a thread title says "Funny" or implies that it will be, it won't be.

It still boggles my mind there isn't a sports forum on here. I would agree there's not enough traffic for sports sub-forums, but mixing sports into OT is just retarded. Off topic should be just that. Off topic. Random topics.

We have health and fitness and love and relationship sub-forums for a bunch of nerds, yet no sports? Seriously?

What are you basing this off of? Number of threads and replies/views? That seems to me like a flawed way of judging interest. OT has so much traffic that sports threads quickly get drowned out and I would think that many people that would otherwise post in these threads never even see them. Why not give a sports forum a trial run and judge interest?

And since this is a TECH forum, sports is OFF TOPIC so I fail to see the problem.

You totally ignored the part where there's a health and fitness and love and relationships sub-forums.

And there is sufficient traffic to support those. Plus the L&R subforum isn't viewable without logging in. This subforum was made more for privacy as well, there is no need for privacy for sports posts.

Personally, I don't see the need for the health and fitness subforum myself but since it's there, it's unlikely to get removed. I agree with many, we are WAY too fragmented and we need to condense, not add more.

It's interesting you made that statement about this being a TECH forum. I made that exact statement voicing my opinion once and was given my one and only permanent black mark for "Thread Crapping" by a lady mod who said this was not just a Tech forum.....It seems that rule is widely open for interpretation depending on the mod. But this is off topic. I apologize. :)

I totally agree with you. This always has been first and foremost a website for Tech enthusiasts. I personally would like it to stay that way so it doesn't become just like all the other half A$$ tech forums out there and lose it's credibility among the Tech community. Why there is a "social" section here is beyond my comprehension. When did this become Match.Com? Seems to me this site is losing it's original focus and what got it to the dance in the first place. So explain to me is the mantra of this community providing technology based information or just seeing how much online traffic they can generate?
