Sport bike dudes... whats your suggestion for a good "for-fun" used sport bike for ~$2500-$3000

Just got a 20% salary increase.. woohoo! 🙂

looks like I'm going to have a little fun cash laying around, and I've really been wanting to get a fast sport bike to help alleviate some stress now and then. 🙂 lots of loney empty stretches of highway around here I can really open up on, and I'm dying to try the thrill of powershifting and pulling a phat wheelie holding on for your dear life..

so whats a decent used good looking and fast sport bike for under $3k ?

my buddy reccommended a CBR as well.. any links offhand with some specs and pics? I'll check out a GSXR

what about a Ninja or Katana? what kind of speeds are we looking at here with the mentioned bikes?

Based on what you say you want a bike for, I would NEVER recommend ANY manufacturer. You are DEFINITELY going to DIE on a motorcycle, if this is what you have in mind. I would only ask you to reconsider your BRAIN-DEAD, STUPID-ASS plan and stick to your slow-ass cars. Your blood will not be on my hands. Motorcycles are to be RESPECTED. Few things can take your life as quickly.

thanks for the opinion. 🙂

not looking for flames here, I'm just looking for some good sport bike suggestions.

anyone else?

<< CBR's are great bikes! What size were you looking >>

Honestly I have no idea! 😱

I haven't researched much.. whats a good size for a first time sport bike owner, that isn't ungodly powerful, but isn't a slow POS either. a nice medium maybe

Go for something in the 650 range. Yahmaha's are good....but be warned, going fast and being stupid on them will kill you!! 🙁 Respect them and drive responsibly!

If you ride like you say you are going to, you will probably die... On a lighter note, I though you could get a decent bike NEW for that cost ($3,000)???

yes I will die.. everyone dies eventually.. if its my time to go, then theres nothing I can do about it.

but I'm really not looking for "parental advice" here, I'd appreciate if we kept it strictly to bike talk.

I'm sure you could get a bike new for that much, but would it be a real dog? I'd like to get a really nice performance bike used, instead of a new cruddy bike, ya know?

like the threads around here, people wanting to spend $25-30k on a new car and they have to settle for a Civic or something, whereas I prefer to put that money to get a slightly used high performance car like a Corvette. just a preference, I don't want something new that is going to depreciate as soon as you start it up, I prefer to let someone else eat the initial depreciation

be carefull man.. you sound like a nut...

I sold my bike Yamaha 600 srx single . After 3 close calls and to cold winters I said ok thats enough.

Yeah the impost bikes rule. I always liked hondas.

sorry to give the parental advise but.
