I buildt a computer for a friend about a year ago. 1 ghz amd athlon (200 mhz fsb), msi k7t pro2a, ibm 45 gb hd (im nervous), 256 mb ram, geforce 2mx, conexant modem, smc nic, hercules muse xl soundcard, pioneer 105s dvd, lite-on 12X10X32X. That would be all I believe.
Im having some damn annoying issues with it. I have tried a new motherboard (also msi pro2a), another ramstick, another psu (340w chieftec, known good on several different setups). Different agp card. No optical drives, no pci slots, all different bios settings. Nothing seems to help a bit.
Once every 5 boot or something like that, it refuse to post. And one of the other 5 boot's (cold boot) it refuse to run zonealarm and norton antivirus. and therefor craching the whole system.
Anyone with some tips? I have run ibm's fitness tool and found no errors. The only things I haven't tried are with another cpu and another hd. I don't have any of those easy accessible. Could it be the cpu? the computer have been running great for almost a year now, without any single hiccups. I have also reseated the cpu (no cracks on the core either).
