Hey all,
I know this goes in the Video forum, but with all the Doom3 threads in there, I'm sure I'd fall to the bottom quickly.
Anyhow...this is kind of an odd problem, and I don't know why it happens. Sometimes my screen flickers...like turns to black then back to normal. The rate of 'flicker' can be extremely rapid (like once every 2 or 3 seconds) or fairly slow (with 30sec to 1 minute gaps).
I can't seem to replicate the problem voluntarily. Sometimes it happens when I first (cold) boot up my computer--get to the windows login screen, and it starts. But that doesn't *always* happen.
Now, it just happened after I played UT2k4 for about an hour (that's never happened before).
Thing is...I can make it stop by dropping the resolution below 1600x1200. Even if it's just to 1400x1050, the problem goes away. When I go back to 1600x1200, it's basically a 50/50 chance that the flickering returns. If I reboot the machine, again like a 50/50 chance that the flickering returns.
I dont' think it's heat related, b/c I played UT for 3 hours last night and it was A-ok...and it was hot in my room last night. Today it's cool (storm just passed) and I didn't play for very long, and I got flickering after playing (but no flickering before playing).
Does anyone know what on earth is going on here?
