Windows XP with an original Asus A7N and onboard NIC. I can get an IP off the DHCP server just fine, and I can even connect to unreal servers and other games and keep a steady connection. However, surfing with IE6 is finicky at best - some websites come up, others don't. Refresh occasionally works. IE is detecting all the settings automagically, and the network itself is fine (I've tried it on several networks before, actually, and it always does this).
I already know I'm gonna have to try reinstalling IE, repairing it, try Netscape or Mozilla, maybe redo the entire netstack, but is there something more simple this might possibly be?
It's for a long-distance friend who can follow directions well, but doesn't know technical stuff involving computers and I want to save myself some trouble
Thanks y'all
