Has anyone had the spool32.exe causing a kernel error? I get this error popping up all the time and immediately after boot. The computer is my aunts and I thought I could figure this out but looks like I can't by myself. I went to the help faqs in windows and on the windows website and I've tried there solutions but they do not seem to work. I even deleted all reference to spool32 in the computer and it still comes up.

I'm assuming my aunt did something with a printer install or something but I can't figure it out. I've unistalled all the printers, drivers, etc... this error is crazy. Can someone help?

I know this is not the answer you are looking for, but give up in Win ME and install something else (Win2K for example). ME is the worst bug-ridden POS OS ever, and really is not worth wasting your time with.

Please list what you have tried already and which MS articles you have applied. Have you run SFC?

-I followed the faq listed here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=191949

-As soon as I rebooted though the error is the first thing that pops up. I've thought about installing another OS but I'd have to buy it and I don't really feel like spending the money. I know the machine would run XP but don't really want to buy it.

-I did a search for spool32.exe and deleted it and all things with that name in the hard drive but somehow when I reboot the .exe still occurs so???

-I've deleted all the printers and drivers for printers.

-I've disabled the printer port thinking that some how there was a problem communicating with it but no luck the error still happens.

I've also patched the dickens out of this thing and it is completely up to date with all windows has to offer from its website even though it is no longer supported.

Those are the things I've tried. Any other advice would be great and I know ME sucks but that is what I have so there you go...

Can't you find someone with an old Win2000 Pro install? I think I've got a retail copy sitting on my shelf that I'm not using (not installed anywhere). Chances are someone you knows is in the same situation.

Most people I know barely know how to turn a computer on let alone have available copies of an OS laying on a shelf. I wish!!!!

If you have run SFC and no joy, why not simply reinstall? First try an over the top install and if that doesn't work try installing to a new folder. The MS site can give you details on how to do that. The good part is that files created in all programs will still be there. However, if the install in a new folder approach is taken, while created files will still be there, you will have to reinstall the programs that created them.
