The weapons expert named by the government as the possible source for a BBC report on Iraq has gone missing, police have said.
Government adviser David Kelly, 59,went missing from his home in Southmoor, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, at about 1500 BST on Thursday.

Thames Valley Police are appealing for help from the public to help find Dr Kelly.

His family contacted the police when he failed to return by 2345 BST.

Earlier this week, Dr Kelly denied being the BBC's main source for a story claiming Downing Street had "sexed up" a dossier about Iraqi weapons of mass destruction.

He appeared before the Commons foreign affairs committee on Tuesday.

Police searching for the weapons expert suggested by the government as the possible source for a BBC story on Iraq say the body they have found matches Dr David Kelly's appearance.
The body was found at 0920 BST by a member of the police team searching for Dr Kelly in a wooded area at Harrowdown Hill, near Faringdon, Oxfordshire.

Government adviser Dr Kelly, 59, went missing from his home in Southmoor, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, at about 1500 BST on Thursday.

The body was found lying on the ground, a police spokeswoman said.

She said items had been removed from Dr Kelly's house as they would in any missing person's inquiry.

The body was found around five miles from Dr Kelly's home.

Tony Blair has promised an independent judicial inquiry if David Kelly has died, journalists travelling with the prime minister on his flight from Washington to Tokyo have said.

His spokesman, Godric Smith, came to the back of the plane less than an hour ago to announce the possible inquiry.

He said a judge would be named this afternoon by the Ministry of Defence.

The development comes as Thames Valley police confirmed the description of the body found near Dr Kelly's home in Oxfordshire matched that of the MoD scientist.

A spokesman confirmed there would be no formal identification until tomorrow.

"We are currently treating this incident as an unexplained death and we will have to wait for the results of the postmortem," he said.

It could have been a concidence...

You people get this conspiracy theory thing out of your heads right now.

Everyone knows the only real political killing in a western democracy in the last 20 years was the assasination of Vince Foster by the Clintons to cover up Whitewater.

But weren't there like 20 people or so who had connections to the Clintons during the Whitewater fiasco that all suddenly died in accidents or of natural causes? Wasn't Vince Foster the guy they found on a park bench who supposedly shot himself in the stomach in order to commit suicide (ewwwww) but they determined he died elsewhere?

Someone jump in, I'm dying to know...
