Spontaneous Restarts whilst Gaming

Well, my system lasted about 3 months without anything strange or annoying occurring. Until now. I installed a new game, and started playing. It was running fine. Then, all of a sudden, things go blank, and the computer has restarted. I then noticed that if I switched to a different window (Alt+Tab), things would be OK, until I Alt+Tab'd back into the game, at which point the computer would all of a sudden be back in a restart, counting up my memory and everything. Any ideas why this is happening? Everything else seems to be working fine, and other games I've played haven't done this. Also ran a virus scan, which seemed to come up negative.
Not sure if it matters, but a couple of days ago, I was asked to send an error report to M'Soft, as the system had recovered from a serious error. Nothing had happened before that, though...?
Just when my faith in computers had been restored.
thanks for the help

could be a number of things - what's the game BTW? What temps is the PC running at? Could also be a PSU issue - what's the make and model plus specs of your Power Supply?

Don't have the make and model of PSU handy (I'm at work), but it's 350W. And I'm currently shopping for a thermal monitor to install, so I can't tell you what the temp reached. The game is No One Lives Forever 2.
I noticed while playing this morning that as long as I don't switch to another app and then switch back, everything is fine. Played for about 45 min with no problems. Maybe it was that last night the comp had been on for a couple of hours, so heated up enough???

OK, sorry for the delay. Here's the info that was in the error log:

C:\DOCUME~1\Main\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER7ae3.dir00\Mini042105-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Main\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER7ae3.dir00\sysdata.xml

On one occasion, there were about 4 error messages in a row, with the first line changing from -01.dmp to -02.dmp, -03.dmp, -04.dmp.

And over the weekend, playing was never interrupted, unless I switched to a different window, accidently hit the windows/start key, etc.

thanks again for the help!
