Spoiled by Amazon Prime shipping

MotionMan

Lifer
Yesterday, I ordered a 49ers case cover for my 8 year old son's iPod Touch on Amazon. It was not a Prime eligible item and was through a third party.

I knew shipping would be slower, which I OK'd with my son, but the item was quite inexpensive and was exactly what he wanted.

I received an email today about it:

Part 1 of the e-mail - "Thank you for shopping with us. We thought you'd like to know that <vender> shipped your item, and that this completes your order. Your order is on its way, and can no longer be changed."

Part 2 of the e-mail - "Your estimated delivery date is:
Thursday, September 27, 2012 -
Tuesday, October 16, 2012"

LOL - I think it is literally on a boat from China.

UPDATE 9/7/12:

Slow boat from China confirmed:

UPDATE 9/12/12:

I has arrived in Los Angeles!

Track your package

But is still says:

Shipment Date: September 5, 2012
Destination: Los Angeles, CA, USA
Estimated Arrival: October 16, 2012

Will it be stuck in customs for a month?!?

Once you get used to 2-day on everything and dirt cheap overnight you start really resenting normal processing times. Even worse now living in the greater NYC area I frequently get stuff from Amazon next-day without paying for it.

Even a week processing time seems absurd in comparison.

Damn. I have a mouse being delivered today (same day) - the only problem is I shipped it to work, and I'm off today. 🙁

I ship everything to the office since no one is ever home during the day. I hate it when something shows up at the office when I am gone.

I'm glad it's not just me. I bought a camera lens from B&H and it took them a day and a half to ship it. I was surprised after basically doing all my online shopping at Amazon.

Really, if Amazon's price is within a few dollars of other retailers I buy from them and that's if I even bother shopping around at all.

your 8 yr old has an iPod Touch? gee i wonder if he's spoiled too?

Screw you. You don't know a damn thing about my son and I would put him up against any kid his age as far as his courtesy, appreciativeness and manners.

He earned his Touch, you ignorant idiot.

Ya, your overreaction and lack of 'courtesy' making an otherwise valid point aren't good.

Good for him. sounds like his mom did a good job raising him. can i send you a Detroit Lions cover? its tons nicer looking than the 49ers one.

oh and btw, relax...its just an internet forum.

I've had things list longer delivery times, and they never take that long to come in.

Also, Amazon has started really skimping on their prime delivery. They've started shipping items to me through UPS MI or FedEx's variant of that, and I don't care for it much. USPS's basic delivery service isn't time sensitive, and they couldn't care less if Amazon is supposed to get the item to me by the second day. I've received packages late. :\

On a related note, I'm tempted to keep ShopRunner past the trial just because it ensures that NewEgg won't ship stuff to me using the EggSaver shipping (which is also the carrier + USPS method).

Like I said, screw you. From most people, I would just let it go. From you, I do not. My family is off limits for you to comment on.

However, you are right; my wife is a great mother.

What bothers me the most is they put your order on hold for 2 or 3 days if you're not a prime member, which basically means minimum a week before receiving your order even if its shipping from the same coast. Bunch of frauds.

If you post stupid shit, I will comment. If my son posts here, you can then comment on him. So, I will tell you what your limits are when it comes to my family. The 1st amendment does not apply (and you probably do not even know why). Do not test me. Drop it.

This seems out of line to me. Why do you need to comment on the guy's son?

I don't see a single thing wrong with an 8 year old having an iPod Touch. How does that make him spoiled?

I doubt his kid being spoiled at all; I mean cmon, he is torturing the poor kid with 49ers paraphernalia.

That should be grounds to call in child services. At least give the kid a chance and make him a Chargers fan.

Well that escalated quickly. I'm not sure I'd be as civil as MotionMan if someone was saying that stuff about my son.

LOL - He chose the cover and even agreed to wait for it as long as it took. This was while we were at the mall and had looked at 20+ covers he could have had immediately, including a few he really liked. He asked to check Amazon for a 49ers cover. How many 8-year-olds have that kind of patience and maturity.

It must be in his blood since he is a 4th generation 49ers fan.

(BTW, he has a friend whose father is a Lions fan and buys the kid Lions gear - but he loves wear my son's 49ers helmet when he comes over to play.)
