Hello

For the last 3 years, I used to pay only for internet (road runner) and i had a coaxial splitter that enabled me to get basic service on my TV. The splitter was already there when i moved in and the guy from TWC did not say anything...

Now that i moved in a new apartment, i am trying to replicate this set up. I pay for internet and i bought a splitter coaxial cables. So i divide the signal, one goes into the modem, the second goes to the TV. I experience very bad quality of image on the TV when using the internet and the internet signal is very often completely absent and i get nothing coming in the modem. Is this coming from the splitter or the cables? What brand/models do you advise me to buy? or is it TWC that changed something in the signal they send?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Welcome to AT Forums.

Call TWC and ask them to make sure that you are getting for you are paying for.
If you are looking for help in how to get what you are Not paying for, you are in the wrong place.

When you get only internet and the installer does his job you can't get any cable. They install a filter that only allows the internet portion of the signal through. The internet lines are not supposed to be split at all, they are direct lines. Now being in a aparment complex this isn't always possible. When a splitter is used they have specific splitter they use that degrades the signal much less than your typical cable splitters.

So in short, the reason you cable doesn't work is because you aren't paying for it. Quite being cheap and pay for it or stop bitching about it.

Undo the crapper splitter your using and see if you internet starts working properly.

For a while, Cox Cable gave away Basic Cable to homes with Cox Internet. You had to call to Activate this. I think Cox discontinued this, but other cable providers might offer this.
