Splitting the RPM signal from a fan to two inputs?

Hey all. Strongly considering a Digidoc-type device. I want to attach my CPU fan to it, but I also want to be able to see the CPU fans' speed on screen via MBM. Do I just splice in another three pin connector, but just use the rpm wire?

Anyone do this before? 😕
 
Do you need the RPM wire hooked up to the digidoc for any reason? If not just take it out of that connector and hook it into its own.
