Hi Folks,

I bought a splitter cat5e because only one ethernet line is working in my living room. I want to have digital TV coming down this line - which works fine. However I also want to stream Netflix not through the wifi signal but hard wired. I bought an RJ45 Port Doubler - 1RJ45 Male to 2 x RJ45 female and plugged in but it doesn't work.

The main cables coming into the apartment are cat6 cables. My Y splitter says Cat5e - are they compatible? I don't know much at all about network cabling.

Anyway, how do I get digital TV and Internet Netflix streaming to work coming down one ethernet line? I would appreciate any help.

You need gigabit ethernet switch (unmanaged or smart switches for beginner) to add ports. RJ45 splitter won't work. All incoming & outgoing cat5e/cat6 cables plug into the same switch.
