Splitting a looong mp3 into tracks??

I was wondering if anyone knows of any good tools for splitting a long mp3 into audio tracks.

I have some Audio Books in .mp3 format that are very long (like 700 minutes or more). I need a tool that can split it into tracks, so that I can seek through it. I've tried doing it right through Nero's tool (5.5.9), but it takes forever and it will only recognize up to 300 minutes worth; after that it gets cut off. I've tried a couple other programs that want the whole thing converted to a .wav first. A quick Google search didn't help much. If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

wow, 700 min. i'd say that's pretty long.

as for audio editing, i do most of my work on cooledit.
it's more for track recording/editing.
but it'll handle mp3's and the last time i checked, it allows you to record/edit a file as long as your harddrive allows.

i'm sure there are better softwares out there for your need, just mp3 slicing.
but it doesn't hurt to try with cooledit.

mp3 Direct cut and Mp3 trim will cut mp3's into tracks, don't remember if it has a limit like that. I used Mp3 direct cut for an audio book that was several hundred minutes long seemed to work good and it is pretty simple to use.

Thanks a lot guys!!

I did a web search on mp3 split, mp3 tracks, etc. but didn't find anything decent, but unhuman's mp3 splitter works great! I tested it with an 80 minute .mp3, split into 600 second sections, split it almost instantly. Tried a 700 minute .mp3 into 300 second tracks - took about a minute, very fast. The final test - a 1200 minute .mp3 into 300 second sections. Worked like a charm, 2 minutes and 20 seconds later I had 248 separate tracks. Woohoo!

Nero took about 10 minutes to recognize the track and split it into tracks in the 300 minutes it recognized. I did try Cooledit, but didn't have much luck with it either, though I didn't spend much time with it.

Thanks again everyone - gotta love the hardware community!
