I have this exact 1Ghz splitter, made by Ideal (bought at Home Depot). Every few months or so my Comcast cable internet will go through a spell where for a few days I lose signal and can't connect for a period of time. Sometimes it will eventually come back for awhile - a few minutes, hours, etc. Sometimes not. It does this every day for a few days then it's fine again till next time. The cable is run from Comcast's splitter in the outside box, maybe 50 feet?, to the above linked splitter, then one cable to the TV and other to the cable modem. When the problem occurs, I can bypass the splitter and the signal is fine. Will buying a better splittler fix the problem? Either a 2Ghz and/or just a better quality one?

A different splitter probably Will Not help. What it seems is happening, is that your incoming signal is low, and when it gets hot out, you are losing signal, hence you are borderline. What modem are you using?

ps.. The Ideal splitter is 1 of the good ones.

It's a Motorola SB5100. Was supposed to be one of the better models. It has the built in webpage showing the signal strength. Though when there's no signal, you can't even get to that page (shouldn't you be able to?). The standby button doesn't work during that time either.
