Question Split tunneling and Windows issue

I recently learned about split tunneling and it has completely changed my online world.

Anyway, I now split tunnel while permitting ONLY certain program to use the VPN. The problem is that it seems it makes my OneDrive and other MS tools that need to connect incapable of doing so. And with my OneDrive not connected it makes a big issue for accessing some of my files when not on the desktop.

Is there a known thing where split tunneling can cause Windows and MS Office to not be able to sync online?
