Split this forum into amd and intel sections

There are way too many wasted threads on this forum these days because everything descends into a flame war. As most people on anandtech seem to use amd then particularly if you want to post anything vaguely positive about intel you can almost guarantee it will get dumped on before it's begun. However that's not to say the intel fanatics are any better, there are just less of them so they don't make so much noise. For those of us not quite so partial to one side or the other this is just a waste of our time reading through the rants in the hope some reasoned debate might be hidden in there.

Other boards have split the warring parties by having and amd cpu forum and an intel one. This seems to work much better as even through each forum shows even more bias towards there favoured manufacturer you don't get quite so much pointless trolling.

Should anandtech do the same thing?

theres only a few "problem posters" and it has nothing to do with their allegiances but rather their unwillingness to stfu when they don't have anything useful to contribute.

If people really wanted to argue and flame that much, they'd just go troll in the other people's forum. E.g. if I'm an Intel fanboy looking to start trouble, I'll go post an "AMD Sucks" thread in the AMD forum. Or if I'm a bit more intelligent, I'll pull an Apple and find a bunch of obscure and unfair benchmarks that make Intel look better and post them. It doesn't really solve anything. If someone is determined to pick a fight, the best thing to do is ignore them or report them to the mods if they're being really obnoxious.

I actually like the idea of having split forums for Intel & AMD.

All the flaming Inteldiots could post over there...& no one would read what they have to say 😀

We'd have peace & quiet in the AMD section, & eventually, the Intelians would become lonely & buy A64s so they could join us 😉

Well splitting the forums will mean more work for the mods won't it? Wouldn't there have to be more mods to split of the work on the seperate forums?

(not takin' sides here just wonderin'. i happen to enjoy a split AMD forum and INTEL, that way it's easier for me to get information from non-bias people)

Probably true.

At Xtremesystems, they seem to get along alright with two sections.
The thing is, the people there are a lot more mature than those here.

I hate to say this, but we need mods that actively patrol the main forums.
Frankly, i don't care what happens in OT, which is where they actually monitor things.
They need to start deleting BS & BS poster' accounts, too...instead of ignoring these forums.

Check out the hardocp forums, they have split intel and amd and even though the hardocp is renowned for it's flame war's it's better then here. E.g. I read through the 10 page "Intel 5* faster per watt" and found nothing but trolling, in hardocp I came across http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=944335 - only 3 pages and some of it was actually informative.

Yes I know the answer is "if you don't like it then go to hardocp instead" but I've read anandtech for a couple of years now (using different login - I use this one when at work) so it seems a shame.

I agree but as mentioned by Unintelia and his/her agenda was to do just that...start flame wars...The real trouble makers will still post in the AMD sections,....I have seen it even on "those other" forums.....

I would like to see separate forums, and quicker banning of people who violate the rules even after separate forums.......

I think they could live in harmony. You will still have the fighting as the problem is most ppl talk out their arse with no proof ( be it empirical data or a source from an expert) to back up their blanket statement. We will still have the same lack of IQ in most of the threads...Just now their rantings and FUD will go unchecked and once again the internet will be the bastion of mis and half0truths we have all come to love....

i don think it is needed, i am also interested in what Intel are doing aswell as AMD .. but i dont want to chop and change forums to view this ..
