Split the HOT DEALs forum into two subforums!

Lots of people (myself included) hate MIRs.

Let's segregate the deals that involve MIRs because, frankly, they suck.

And then we wouldn't have to see the MIR stuff, but people who don't mind MIRs could still peruse deals that require them if they so wished.

What say you?

While we're at it, let's split those two groups up into "Online Deals" and "B&M Deals". And why not separate those four groups into "Computer-related Hot Deals" and "Non-Computer-related Hot Deals".

That'll leave us with just eight very simple categories to choose from:

Online MIR Computer-related Hot Deals
Online NR Computer-related Hot Deals
Online MIR Non-Computer-related Hot Deals
Online NR Non-Computer-related Hot Deals
B&M MIR Computer-related Hot Deals
B&M NR Computer-related Hot Deals
B&M MIR Non-Computer-related Hot Deals
B&M NR Non-Computer-related Hot Deals

I like them to include "AR" or "MIR" in the title (which they usually do) so I can avoid them, but that's about it. No need for another forum...

could it be possible to make it a checkbox or optionbox which can be set, which will force people to select whether its AR or NR before they can post.

if you don't like them, don't use them. You don't see those of us that don't use chapstick demanding a seperate forum for chapstick sales.

it would be OK if it was like, separated in categories of product types, but not rebates. then, if you want a computer, you have to search in 2 forums instead of 1. if its divided into product categories, you would just look in the computer catagory. but it is just totally unneccessary

I knew I was shooting way high on this, and I figured at the very least it would start a dialog.

This is probably beyond the scope of the software on which the forums run, but it would be nice if a) type of rebate in subject/summary was enforced and b) you could have a view where you could filter out anything with the string 'MIR' in the title or summary fields.

On the search function, does the - option work? For example can you search for 'Radeon 9800 -Pro' if you want that GPU but NOT the pro version?

Ok here's my solution:

Rather than clicking on the "Hot Deals" section, go to search, put 'MIR' in the 'none of these words' field and hit search.

A bit cumbersome, but worth it if you hate MIRs as much as I.
