That's stupid....I wouldn't go back there.

that or complain to the manager if it wasn't noted in the menu.

well, it was in the menu, but at the very bottom, that's why I didn't want to say anything....but I was just surprised that they would do that...........

Is it because since they give complementary chips and Queso, they make you have to pay for atleast *something*?

If you saw it on the menu, didn't question it beforehand and are bitching now, you're a dumbass. Just about every restaurant above McDonalds level has a split plate fee. It's pretty simple to comprehend if you stop whining and think for a moment. If a person goes in and doesn't order that person is still consuming the restaurants resources. They're eating bread and butter (or chips and salsa), drinking water, generating dirty dishes, tying up a space that a paying customer could be using and creating work for the waiter and busboy. If you're just having an appetizer, sit at the bar. Most restaurants will serve appetizers at the bar and won't enforce split plate fees because it's hard to tell who is with whom.

BTW, don't be such a wuss, ask BEFORE ordering. If the place wasn't busy you probably could have gotten them to drop the fee as they're rather have a little business than no business at all.

Restraunts might do this because it defeats the purpose of ordering a small order.

Restraunts lose money because of this.

How do they lose money selling a plate of appetizers split between 2 people versus not having a customer at all ?

While I understand that things like chips and bread do cost money, the amount they use a day and the fact that someone could come in there, still get a regular meal, but eat 3 times the normal amount doesn't justify charging someone a split plate fee.

I have never seen this on any place i go to.

I can understand it for a entrée but a appetizer? i would complain since appetizers are usually shared.

but since you had seen it before you placed your oder then its your fault.
