My g/f has gotten me SC for my Xbox, but after looking at how sweet it looks on the Def PC, I'm wondering if I should have her take it back and wait for the PC version. The Xbox version has been praised by everyone, so should I just go with that or wait? Opinions anyone?

Xbox version is better hands down if you have a 32" or bigger TV. I been playing it on a 52" and it owns Halo IMO. I am almost through the game and have to say its my most favorite game for Xbox. If you plan on playing on anything lower than a 25"(unless its a true flat screen or something) go with the PC version.

Its much easier to play on Xbox. Trust me I have d/led the demo for PC and only loaded it up once. No reason to way as theres really no graphical differences.

BTW I thought the PC version was to dark also I had the graphics cranked to the max that the demo would let me@1024x68.

I read a thing about how they're going to have to crank up the difficulty of Halo for the PC cuz the controls are so much more dialed on the PC compared to the sticks on the Xbox.

I'll be playing on either my 27" TV that I sit close (6') too or my g/f's 32" TV from about 8' away. The Def PC has a 19" monitor and it looks slick and smooth at 1024 rez.

Hmmm....

Dude, for the love of god, open it up and play it on the XBox! The game freakin' rocks! I'm sure you'll have a great time playing it on the XBox. The ONLY people that should wait to play it on the PC are the ones that DON'T have an XBox.

I read the same article yesterday, can't remember where though. I agree w/ JackBurton, get the PC version if you don't have an X-Box. W/ the upcoming release of both Halo & SC, I can't see any reason why I would personally buy an X-Box, I'm happy w/ my PS2, but really wanted to play these two games, problem solved :)

If I had an xbox I would probably play it on my xbox as I'd be used to the controller ... tho without owning one, if I had the choice of buying an xbox and playing it (negating costs) I would wait for the PC version because I'm pretty fluid with my computer's controls ..

If you have an Xbox, then play it on the Xbox. I was never a big fan of playing FPS on consoles though.

I got it for Xbox for these reasons...

Big TV
Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound system
Couch
Controller

IMO, these were reasons enough to chose this version of the game. :)

I got it and am playing it and it rocks, though I miss the ability to save anytime. It sucks to play thru a long stretch and then die and have to do it all over again. Grrr...

Thanks for the advice all.

(The g/f also got me Wreckless and I bought Buffy TVS myself. Lot's of playing ahead!)

I was about to delete the PC demo and decided to see if I could tear thru it without shooting anyone (I could!), and looking at it on the Def PC compared to Xbox, I'm wondering if it MAYBE wouldn't be better on the PC. [ducks] One thing, I miss the Xbox controller set. Hmm....

Huh? GTA3 benefitted from mouse-look during the on-foot portions and I actually did OK with the default keys for driving. The graphics were way more detailed than the PS2 version could ever be. I can't wait for "Vice City" to come on PC. Can you imagine how great GTA3 and VC would've looked on the Xbox if Sony hadn't locked it up to their aging hardware?

There's a big difference between console-to-PC ports and Xbox-to-PC ports. Since the Xbox is basically a tweaked GF3 and P3-733 PC, there should be little difference between the versions. The differences in controls are an issue (has anyone tried the PC version of Rallisport Challenge?), but the generally superior HW in most PCs removes the limitations that old console ports had.

Splinter Cell requires the use of analog sticks to move slowly and creep...or move as fast as you push on the analog.....I havent seen the PC make use of analog control yet (maybe Im missing sumthin).

GTA 3 was very buggy and ran very choppy for almost everyone I talked too....thats why I said that...I never got into it due to the bugs and the framerate. Lets hope your right on xbox to pc ports;)

GTA 3 ran fine for me, and the people that I've talked to had the same experiences.

I too can't wait for GTA: VC.

GTA3 ran like silk at 1024 with AA on my rig, but I am aware that some had problems. I had a bug that prevented me from taking phone missions, but that mysteriously went away. Odd. That shouldn't de an indictment of ports.

As for SC analog speed control, you dial in speed with your mouse wheel and it STAYS THAT WAY until you dial again. Once you're set to creep, you can't accidentally move too fast and make noise - something that got me killed on the Xbox.

Let me revise my previous statement...I've played more of SC on my XBox and I'm now ready to rule...Screw the PC release!! SC is freakin' AWESOME on the XBox and I'll rank it WAY over Halo. IMO, Halo is a good game but overly hyped IMO. The graphics on the XBox are going to be a B!TCH to duplicate on the PC (If you haven't played it on the XBox, your not fit to make ANY judgement). SC takes the TOP spot of ANY game out (console or PC). I LOVE this game!!! :)

bing-GO!!! Especially the DD 5.1 gaming! There are no games on the PC that can match the Xbox in the sound department.

Yeah, I'm not sure what's up with all the anti-console sentiment. Some games play better on the PC, and some are better on a console... Those anti-console guys are really missing out on some awesome games.

Maybe its just that I run ATI and all the talking about GTA3 was done on RAGE 3D (the ati boards).....;)

The game could run fine now and have been fixed with patches or new drivers but I have since lost interest....
