Splinter cell sound question

I've noticed a funky little problem w/ the sound in splinter cell. I'm not a big fan of ingame music so I always turn it all the way down. But then I cant hear any sounds in the game very well - it's like they are all turned down. But then I exit to setting screen and return to game and the volume is normal, but the music is back. Any ideas?
thanks,
-doug

try updating your sound drivers

i run splinter cell the same as you but it works fine here,ie... if i adjust music loe the game sounds are unaffected

it could be a bug in the game but only with certain soundcards(i am running on board sound right now)

I've got a soundblaster live 5.1. I turned on 3d sound and EAX. Maybe that is why...but if I recall I was having the same problem either way. I will fuss w/ it. In the meantime...anyone else?
thanks,

Could be EAX, since SS uses the Unreal engine which has EAX problems, but if that doesn't change it, general driver updates might help.
