Splinter Cell - Issues with lighting and light sources!

OK, I've installed Splinter Cell and applied the patch. I start up the game and everything looks great until I start the training mission. The walls on either side of the building disappear and all the sunlight floods in. Every single light in the building is visible through walls, etc.

Here is my system:

XP 1800+
512MB Generic PC2100
8RDA+
ATi Radeon 9700 Pro
Windows XP Pro SP1a

DX9 and Cat. 3.1s are installed.

What gives?

There was some talk early on in the Ubisoft forums that if you disable antialiasing, *most* people were able to fix the problem (or at least enough where the game was playable). Have you tried that?

No, I haven't tried disabling AA. I will do so in a minute. But why should I need to do this in order for the game to work correctly? Is it an ATi driver issue, or does this problem lie with Ubisoft?

Thanks for the replies. I will let you know if it works.

It's said to be game specific and reportedly will be fixed in next patch. Alternatively, if you wish to use AA it will work (somewhat) fine as long as you switch to nightvision then back to normal when a level first loads. This fixes the lighting issue anyway, however the "(somewhat)" part above remains. "Somewhat" meaning you will still have horrid, horrid framerates while in nightvision mode when using AA.
